I grew up in Lithuania, and moved to the UK (which was my dream since I was 11!) in 2009 to study Digital Media Engineering at the University of Surrey in Guildford. I then completed my degree in 2013 after three years of studying and a one year industrial placement.
After that, I started my professional career working in the broadcasting industry designing and implementing solutions for clients in the UK and abroad. Throughout my time there, I realised that what I am best at is connecting with people, feeling empathy towards their problems, and helping solve them.
Technology has always been a huge part of my life, and I believe it should be used for a good cause. It should help businesses improve, and it should make people's lives easier. That is what initially attracted me to the world of UX, and I then completed a 6-month online course in UX Design with Careerfoundry.
Before making a full leap to UX, I quit my previous job and went on a 3.5 month career break to South America. The trip took me to many amazing places, allowed me to explore new cultures and taught me adaptability as well as patience. It also reminded me that I enjoy being settled and how much I want to use my skills to make a difference.
I'm now very excited to be back and I'm looking for my first role as a UX Designer. UX Design combines technology, creativity and psychology, and it can be used to solve problems big and small. It's a fascinating industry and I look forward to continuing to learn and being part of it.
